Handling

Curava slabs/finished countertops should be loaded/unloaded using suitable and properly rated nylon slings. Steel slings are not recommended as they may cause chipping at the edges of the slab/countertop.

Slabs are to be stoed indoors only and in a dry area. Always store slabs on suitable A-frames, as you would with marble or granite slabs. The A-frames should be made of steel and specifically made for marble or granite slabs. It is important to distribute the number of slabs evenly on both sides of the A-frame to balance the weight. Make sure that the slabs are placed with the polished surfaces touching one another. You can place other types of slabs against Curava slabs, provided that the polish faces of both slabs are touching. Do not store Curava slabs horizontally (on the floor, on pallets, etc.)

When installing a Curava countertop, the finished product should be loaded on a suitable padded transport frame to protect the edges and surface of the countertop. The product should be strapped securely with rated straps to avoid any movement during transportation.

When Curava slabs are loaded onto a flatbed, they should be loaded onto suitable steel A-frames and should be strapped down securely using DOT approved straps to make sure there is no movement.

When handling Curava slabs /countertops, as with granite, marble, and all other stone, it is important that you always use personal protection equipment (gloves, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.) as required by OSHA and always maintain a clear, safe distance when operating an overhead crane or forklift crane. Never walk or stand underneath a Curava slab/countertop that is raised in mid air.

When installing a Curava countertop by hand, back support belts, and other body support equipment is recommend to reduce the weight strain on the knees and back.

A qualified stone fabricator or installer should be the only person handling, fabricating, or installing Curava products. Visitors and unauthorized personnel should never be involved in any aspect of fabrication, handling, or installation of Curava.
